PD Voyage Distance Record
By Tim Cleary
6-25-06 record: 15 miles

Because the wind and weather prospects were not good, I decided to go to the closer, smaller Lake Robinson, rather than drive all the way to Lake Hartwell.

No wind was forecasted until 8 am so I didn't start til then. I managed just 4 miles by 11 am, so I stopped for lunch and a swim.

But by noon a thunderstorm passed to the south and winds came through of approx 12-15 mph. I did beam reaches back and forth across the lake and then tacked back to the launch dock. By 2:30 pm I'd logged 11 miles. The wind calmed down so I took a break, then got back on the lake in winds of 6-7 mph.

I went down the lake about a mile then tacked back to the dock and finished at 5pm with 15 miles. The average moving speed was 1.9 mph. But during the hours of good wind I did hit a peak speed of 6.5 mph.
