February
Anniversary Challenge Week is Feb 21st till Midnight on Wednesday Feb 28th 2007.

This is a call for all puddle duckers to get out and try to set a world record in honor of the anniversary of the first puddle duck race. All of the records get "reset" at the beginning of the year so you have a very good chance of setting the record for this year, or possibly attaining the all time record for a category. There are plenty of categories that you can attempt on your own or as a group.

Gordon Seiter #58 Wins Canadian Championship
Light winds and overcast sky's couldn't put a damper on the final Puddle Duck Race Day of the 2006 race season held Sunday off Sunoka Beach in Summerland.

The final event of the eight race Okanagan Fleet series was a Duck Bob. Ken Sewell of Summerland Builders Mart roared through the race zone throwing bathtub duckys into the lake at random from the safety boat. The racers then took off over the ¼ mile course to collect the bobbing toys. Sink-a-Moose; crewed by the entire Smith family of Gary, Mandy, Rachel and Mathew, tied with Goliath for the most ducks rescued. The tie gave Sink-a-Moose enough points to edge out Granny's Goal and Captain Jane Turnell to finish second overall on the season. Fourth place went to team Off Level out of Osoyoos, and fifth went to Summer Sizzle and the Palmer Family of Summerland.

But with five first place finishes, no one could catch Fleet Captain, and Summerland Puddle Duck Hatch Organizer Gordon Seiter for the series overall winner and recipient of the City of Summerland's Shaughnessy Cup.

With the Season decided and the toy's put away, the racers regrouped for the second race of the day. The Canadian Puddle Duck Challenge Cup was raced over a half-mile course and turned into a tacking duel between Summer Sizzle, Sink-a-Moose, and Goliath. Once again Captain Seiter lead the pack to the beach to Claim the Canadian Championship. "I am very pleased with the way the fleet has improved this summer, " Said Seiter, "all these boats were built during the Summerland Centennial Hatch in April, and already I would put our fleet up against any Puddle Duckers in the world."

Seiter may get the chance. The Okanagan Fleet has been asked to host the 2007 World Puddle Duck Championships.
