Here Scott lays his boat over in the water. You can see that the entire hull is supported by the airbox and there is no water in the cockpit.
If he had a mast head float, the mast would not sink below the surface and have a chance at getting stuck in the mud.
The side airbox is 7" wide, which is just about right.
Putting weight on the centerboard makes the hull come upright again.
Watch out that the hull doesn't fall on your head!!
Another technique is to toss a line over the top and pull on that.
The boat is upright and dry inside, and he can pull himself aboard over the side.
